Matt MitchellJust over two months ago, the fifteen members of the first CEED Leadership cohort met in Brisbane at UQ's swanky business training facilities for a week of intensive leadership training. I think it's safe to say that most of us had only a vague idea of what leadership is. While we left with a much more concrete picture of leadership, along with new skills, we all realised that to become effective environmental leaders we needed to put all of these skills into practice.
This is what this blog is about. Each of us has a leadership plan for the coming year - a document that outlines the projects and activities that we hope to complete to help develop our leadership potential. Some of these are big, some small, some are focused on personal development, others on leading large teams. The hope for the blog is that it will be a place where we can discuss our successes, challenges, and (hopefully small and infrequent) failures with each other. We feel that this is important, both to facilitate self-reflection about our leadership development, but also to communicate individual lessons learned to the entire group. So, every two weeks or so, one of us will share thoughts about our leadership work.
While our focus is on communication within our group, we hope that others (like you!) will also be interested in our adventures and will gain insight from our activities. Feel free to follow along, comment on posts that resonate, or contact us to send along ideas or questions!
